Writing, at least to me, is an escape; a way in which I can express my ideas, my imagination, my feelings, and whatever’s currently happening in my life. So, if writing is an escape, then you might wonder, why does he publish blog posts and short stories?

First…about the blog posts

It hasn’t been too long since my first blog post nor since the year started; it’s important that I mention this because of the time I’m currently writing this post. Every year we promise ourselves that we will do multiple things to improve our lives; whether it’s getting more invested in working out, stop smoking (or doing something similar), getting along better with a family member,… you get my point. Writing became a point in my life I wanted to improve, since last year I stopped writing for myself a couple of times and, although I didn’t hate it, I didn’t really enjoy it. I was writing stories that wouldn’t see the light of day because I didn’t really like the way I had written them.

I was writing stories in which the characters weren’t easy to empathize, plots that seem to appeal only a specific group of people (as if I was writing to gain a following) and scenarios that were too specific and were indirectly dedicated to a couple of people.

This backstory may seem irrelevant, since I’m talking about short stories and this section is meant to talk about my blog posts. Well, my blog posts aren’t fictional stories, they’re just things I want to tell. Events that I want to talk about in order for you (the audience) to better understand about my writing, recommendations I may give, given an event has affected me in a positive or negative way, and so on.

There are posts that may be confusing and posts that may be deeply written, as if I was showing you a bit of what’s going on in my life, it may not be that relevant for a few, but to me it is. I enjoy writing, and this blog is my way to keep working on my writing, as well as showing you guys what’s going on in my life.

It may be weird, since the ones who know me personally know that I don’t enjoy using social media that often, but writing is my escape; the way I can express what I’m feeling or living at the moment. I know it may sound romantic or dramatic (choose whichever describes this post better), but writing about whatever pops first into my head is something I’ve been trying to do for quite some time.

If you’re reading this and we are the same age (or you’re older than me), then I can assure you, write whatever you’re feeling, whatever you’re living. I have my own notebooks that I use as journals, since I do believe it’s important to pour yourself out somewhere; the best part is that you don’t have to re-read them, and no one else has to read them.

I have a couple of posts in the making in the near future, I’m still thinking if I should show you guys my calendar for future publications, so do let me know if you’d rather see them or you prefer to be surprised by them.

And the stories?

Well, now that my posts are out of the way, let’s get to the way more personal part, my stories. Not every short story I write will see the light of day, and it may be because of a few different reasons, but the biggest one I believe it’s the lack of empathy I give my characters. These are characters that aren’t driven by anything other than the story’s advancements, and I’d much rather give them a purpose, something that pushes them. I want them to get inspired and, therefore inspire you.

Villains may or may not be compelling, some are fallen heroes (look at Star Wars, but do ignore the recent trilogy), others just do what they do because that’s how they’ve been written. It’s the author’s job to give them a backstory, whether that story is presented or not, it’s up to them.

As you’ve noticed, I tend to give my characters an important role by trying to make them empathetic, whether you decide to love or hate them, it’s up to you.

Now, after giving you guys some information about my characters, my stories are things that pop into my mind; places, characters, creatures, feelings, that may or not exist. If you were one of the lucky few to have read Enero earlier, then you may have noticed a change in the way my characters from last year are being described. It’s no longer a story told in first person, it’s me giving you guys a peek into a world that it’s still growing, I’m thinking of the characters, where will the overall story will go, and the emotions that we’ll be feeling along the ride.

I’m hoping that El Anuario will become my first long story, but like I state all the time, I write for myself; whenever a chapter closes, a new one opens and these are exciting. I have a story brewing up for everyone, since I’m writing this one in English, that I do hope everyone enjoys at their own pace. It’s likely that I’ll be finishing Febrero, the second chapter of El Anuario, sooner than A place to hide (I’m still deciding on the title). I won’t say anything about any of them here, since I’m still working on them, but what I can say so far is that these two are being written during a time that I feel better about my writing; since it’s a time in which I’m writing stories for myself rather than someone else.

Like always, I hope you’ve enjoyed this post; if you’re new here, thanks for stopping by! If you’re coming back to my blog, I hope you’ve enjoyed this post!

Keep your eyes peeled for tomorrow (January 28), since there may be a different post incoming…

Thank you!

Quick thing, sorry this post doesn’t have pictures or anything of the sorts, I could figure out what could combine perfectly with this post, but next week’s will have some (I think)!

Here’s a picture of my doggo, thanking you for reading this!
